5. Wait for the Firestick to detect the remote. It should automatically pair within a few seconds. Once the pairing is successful, the LED light on the remote will stop flashing.

6. Test the remote to make sure it is working properly by navigating through the Firestick interface and selecting different options.

How to Add an Additional Firestick Remote

You can have multiple remotes connected to your Firestick device. At the same time, you can connect the Fire TV remote to only one Firestick device.

1. Head to Settings on your Firestick 4K device.

2. Select Controller & Bluetooth Devices under Settings.

3. Click Amazon Fire TV remotes.

4. Now, select Add New Remote.

5. Long press the Home button on the Firestick remote for a few seconds until you see the remote name on the screen.

6. When the remote name appears, select it to get paired.

How to Pair a Firestick Remote Without Old One

If you have lost the old Firestick remote or if it stops working, you can use your smartphone as a remote to control the TV.

1. Connect the smartphone and Firestick device to the same WiFi network.

2. Head to the Play Store or App Store to install the Amazon Fire TV app.

3. Tap Add Device to connect the app with the Firestick.

4. Enter the Amazon credentials to log in and input the PIN on your Smartphone, which is shown on the TV.

5. Go to Settings and choose Controllers & Bluetooth Devices.

6. Navigate to Amazon Fire TV Remotes.

How to Unpair Firestick Remote

You can unpair the Firestick remote from your TV in two ways.

Single Paired Remote

1. Press and hold the Home button on the Firestick remote (You like to unpair) for about 20 seconds. Keep holding the button until the LED light on the remote starts flashing rapidly.

2. After the LED starts flashing, release the Home button. The remote will now enter pairing mode.

3. Wait for a few seconds, and the LED light on the remote will stop flashing and remain solid for a moment.

4. Once the solid LED light turns off, the remote has been successfully unpaired from the Firestick.

Note: You can only unpair the remote only when the Firestick is turned off.

Double Paired Remote

If the existing Firestick remote stops working, you can’t be able to unpair it from the device. Alternatively, by pairing an additional remote to the Fire TV, you can easily unpair the existing remote.

1. Go to Settings and select Controllers & Bluetooth Devices.

2. Select Amazon Fire TV Remotes.

3. Pair the new remote with the Fire TV.

4. Now, choose the existing remote and tap Menu to unpair.

2. Replace the batteries: Check whether the batteries have expired or not, and replace them with new ones.

3. Ensure no obstacles: You can’t control your Fire TV with the Firestick remote when you have obstacles in the middle. Make sure there is a clear path between your remote and the TV.

4. Check whether the remote is paired: You might not be able to control the device if the Firestick remote has lost the connection with the TV. Hence, check whether the Firestick remote is paired with your TV.
