IPTV on Plex

Plex is an online streaming platform from media servers. You can stream IPTV on Plex by using tvhProxy. It is one of the best options available till Plex implements its grid EPG (Electronic Program Guide). Currently, Plex is providing its own EPG through Gracenote. Many IPTV providers have issues with the EPG data being wrong. By using IPTV on Plex, you get the option to automatically record programs with any commercials.

To use IPTV on Plex, you have to install two software:

  • tvheadend
  • tvhProxy

tvheadend – This software is not supported on windows, but you can install them in OS like Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, and CentOS.

tvhProxy – tvhProxy is a fair python script that emulates an HDHomeRun for Plex to find. Git clones the repo and cp the startup script similar to the readme shows. There is also a requirement to edit tvhProxy.py to contain the URL, which includes the username and password of your tvheadend installation.
