How to Setup and Watch IPTV on VLC Media Player [2023]

You can use VLC Media Player to access IPTV services to stream various TV channels, movies, TV Shows, and much more from local and global networks. IPTV services can be streamed in two ways, one is streaming directly from the app or website, and the second is using an IPTV player like VLC. By using the latest version of the VLC media player, you can stream all the IPTV content by configuring the player settings.
Before proceeding further, you need to configure your VLC media player for streaming IPTV content. Go through the below article to configure VLC and stream IPTV content through it.

Pre-requisite
- VLC Media Player with the latest version.
- Active IPTV Subscription.
- M3U URL from the suitable IPTV provider.
How to Set Up IPTV on VLC
You can stream the IPTV on your VLC player by properly configuring the VLC media player with the following steps.
Step 1: Download and install VLC Media Player from its official website if you don’t have one.
Step 2: After installing, open the VLC Player. Go to the Simple Preferences settings by clicking on the Tools option from the top menu and selecting the Preferences option, or simply press Ctrl + P on the Windows keyboard and Command + P on Mac.

Step 3: In the Simple Preferences tab, you will find the Show Settings section at the bottom. Click on the “All” radio button.
Step 4: Now, under Input/Codecs >> click on Video codecs from the side menu >> select FFmpeg.

Step 5: Now, the FFmpeg tab will open up.
Step 6: In that disable the Hardware decoding option under the decoding section.

Step 7: Now, click on Input/Codecs and scroll down to the bottom. You will find Network Caching under the Advanced section, which you have to set to 3000 ms.

Step 8: Scroll up, and you will find “MTU of the network interface” in the Network settings section.
Step 9: Set it to 1500 for Cable or 1498 for ADSL.

Step 10: Click the Save button. Now, the VLC Player is ready to play IPTV videos. Next, proceed with the below instructions to stream IPTV using VLC.
Step 11: Click on Media from the VLC’s top menu and select Open Network Stream. Or you can just press Ctrl + N keys for Windows and Command + N keys for Mac.

Step 12: Enter the URL of your IPTV provider in the URL box.
Note: Some IPTV services provide only URLs to stream their media content.
Step 13: Click on the Play button. Wait till the channel loads, and select the channel you want to play. Enjoy watching the IPTV on your VLC-installed device.
