How to Update Roku Device Firmware to Latest Software Version

Keeping your Roku devices up to date will help you get a smooth and issue-free streaming experience. Just like updating the apps on your Roku TV, it is also necessary to upgrade your device’s software whenever a new update is available. But by updating to the newest firmware, you can get access to new features, fix bugs and issues and boost overall performance. Usually, all Roku devices check for new updates every 24 to 36 hours and install them if available.
However, it is recommended to check manually for new updates if your device has been disconnected for an extended period of time. So if you’re facing any bugs or small issues on your Roku streaming device, check for available updates and install them immediately.
How to Update Roku Device Manually
From Roku Express to Stick, you can update the device using the following steps.
1. Turn on your Roku device and press the Home button on your Roku remote.
2. Scroll up to highlight Settings in the home screen menu and select it.

3. In the Settings menu, choose System.

4. Scroll down to select System Update.

5. On the System Update screen, select Check Now to initiate an immediate update check.

6. Wait for your Roku device to check for updates. If the message “All software is up to date” appears, your Roku device is updated to the latest firmware. If the message “Update available” appears, proceed to the next steps.
7. Once you have confirmed an update is available, select Update Now to get the latest firmware version on your device.

8. Allow your device to download and install the update automatically.
